Born in Mexico City, Paloma Torres received a degree in Visual Arts from the National School of Visual Arts at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Mexico City. She was a member of the professional engraving workshop headed by artist Carlos García, and resident artist of Artists on the Coast, Careyes, Jalisco, Mexico; the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, France; and with René Derouin and Val David in Québec, Canada. In 1986 she obtained a Master’s degree in color engraving at the National Institute of Fine Arts in Mexico City, and since 2000 has been a member of the National Creators’ System. For the last six years, Torres has been a professor of art history and graphic design at the Iberoamericana University, Mexico City, and is a member of the panel of the National State Creators’ System.
