Nina Bovasso was born in New York City and earned her B.F.A. from San Francisco Art Institute in 1992. Following her undergraduate studies, Bovasso attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and in 1999 earned her M.F.A. from Bard College. Currently, she divides her time between New York City and Amsterdam.
Bovasso has exhibited in several group and solo shows which include: Curve Series: Nina Bovasso, Museum of Contemporary Art, Cleveland, OH; Sex, Fat, Industry Meltdown, Project Room, Clementine Gallery, New York, NY; Richard Heller Gallery, Santa Monica, CA; and Vedanta Gallery, Chicago, IL.
She completed visiting artist positions at California College of Arts & Crafts, San Francisco, CA, in the spring of 2003 and at University of Virginia, Charlottesville, in the spring of 2001. Bovasso also completed an artist residency at University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 2000.
Bovasso’s work can be found in the collections of: Collectie KPN, Netherlands; The New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York, NY; The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY; JP Morgan/Chase Bank, New York, NY; and Princeton University Museum of Art, Princeton, NJ, among others. Her work has also been reviewed in Art Forum, The New York Times, The Village Voice, and TimeOut NY.
