James Kerr

James P. Kerr was born in Buffalo, New York in 1953. Growing up in a prominent art community, he was able to study at a young age with the late Lazlo Szabo, a renowned portrait painter and Carl Illig, a prominent landscape painter.

James enjoyed early success with his painting due to the mastery of his subject matter and his diverse intense palette. He is a plein air and studio painter with varied subject matter consisting of landscape, figurative, architectural, and still life compositions.

His style of painting can best be described as a unique combination of impressionism and abstract expressionism. James feels his work is all about “capturing a moment in time”. James has been a painter and teacher for over three decades. His paintings are represented in hundreds of private and corporate collections both nationally and internationally.
