Eline Barclay’s paintings explore the essence and mood of water and the natural world around it. The artist is concerned with early morning and twilight as well as weather – stormy skies, foreboding clouds, gossamer fog. She captures mood and atmosphere, with a touch of mystery without being nostalgic. The Cornwall-on-Hudson native recently moved to Addison, Maine. Her paintings reflect her love of the wetland and tidal marshes of both the Hudson River region and Maine. Her response to nature is somewhere between the naturalistic and the romantic. Eline blends her oils and pastels seamlessly with an ethereal quality. Her work reflects a world of quiet solitude captured with a light atmospheric touch.
Eline has had solo and group shows throughout the Dutchess, Orange and Ulster Counties and several galleries in Maine. She has a degree in Fine Arts from SUNY, New Paltz, New York and is part of corporate and private collections around the world.
