Carolina Flores

Carolina G. Flores is a painter known for her Highway, Landscape and Figurative work
of family and significant people in her life. Carolina holds a B.F.A in painting from the
University of Texas at Austin, Texas and an M.F.A in painting from the University
of Texas at San Antonio, Texas.
She maintains her studio in the Blue Star Contemporary Art Center. Carolina has exhibited
her work throughout the Southwestern US and her work is in several permanent collections
including Residences of the U.S. Ambassador to Belize and Nicaragua through Art in Embassies
Program.
Her work in silk is documented in Latino Design Archive of the Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum
in New York as part of the Smithsonian Institution.
Carolina has taught as a visiting artist for the San Antonio Independent School District since 1976,
San Felipe del Rio Independent School District, Southwest School of Arts and Crafts and has been
an adjunct faculty at Our Lady of the Lake University since 2002.

Carolina describes her work as being about strong colors and expressive form which she employs
in her Portraits, Highways, Landscapes and Still life’s.
Her paintings on silk are abstract and representational. She creates large scale pieces of art as well as
Silk dresses, scarves and ties.
Carolina’s ceramic work includes tiles murals as well as 3 dimensional replicas of family members,
shoes, “Corazon Sagrados” (sacred heart’s), “Santos and Angeles” (saints and angels).
