Amy Vensel is a graduate of Syracuse University. She has been awarded a Vermont Studio Center artist grant, the Lancaster Museum and Public Art Foundation Award, an Artist Resource Trust grant, and the Wofsey Award at the Faber Birren National Color Show. She is currently represented by Giampietro Gallery.
“My painting process has evolved into a system of invented rules and peculiar visual logic. Employing custom-made trowels I create a variety of surfaces—from smooth lustrous planes that echo the backlit screens of today’s digital landscape, to thick, hazy films that obscure the painting’s history.”
