Alex Fletcher

Alex Fletcher was born in Elginshire, Scotland, where he learned the painting trade as an apprentice. At the age of 22, he came to America and settled in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and spent virtually the rest of his life here. From decorating painted furniture and trays, Fletcher turned naturally to painting flowers and later to local scences and landscapes. First president of the Greensburg Art Club and long-time member of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, he was a painter of the local scence and his paintings are found on the walls of many Greensburg homes. His works can also be found in several public collections, and have won many awards. In 1942 1942 the Greensburg Art Club gave him a one-man show. Fletcher died ten years later, in 1952.
