Sydney Yard

Born in Illinois, the watercolorist Sydney J. Yard (1855-1909) studied in New York and Great Britain and became a master of English watercolor techniques. He moved to California where he painted landscapes and coastal scenes of the Monterey Peninsula. Yard’s paintings are the collection of the San Diego Museum of Art and Stanford University and his Hills and Clouds will hang in the U. S. Embassy in Sweden.
