These paintings contain images of the natural physical world, and at the same time they are about something else. They border on the surreal, being both familiar and strange at the same time. Light is also a theme, a light source, both the physical light that supports life, and spiritual light that guides us. The urn filters the light, and gives it color and a shadow, but the light source is unchanged. How we filter the light colors our perception, but the light source is not altered by this.”
