James Warren Perry is an independent realist artist living and working in Northern California. Mr. Perry says of his work, “My paintings are the product of the deeply held belief that our lives are worthy of our most focused attention. I have come to embrace a meditative working process based on direct observation.”
James Warren Perry was born in Greenbrae, California in 1958. After attending the University of the Pacific, Stockton, CA, he graduated, BFA with distinction, from California College of Arts and Crafts, 1980.
The artist’s work has been featured in over 100 exhibitions. Institutions that have exhibited his work include: Riverside Art Museum, Riverside, CA; Palm Springs Desert Museum, Palm Springs, CA; Museum of Art, Kochi, Japan; Masur Museum of Art, Monroe, LA; Art Museum of Los Gatos, Los Gatos, CA; California Museum of Art, Santa Rosa, CA; Bolinas Museum, Bolinas, CA; Texas Artists Museum, Port Arthur, TX; United States Embassy, Reykjavik, Iceland; Oliver Art Center, California College of Arts and Crafts; Oakland, CA; Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA; University of the Pacific, Stockton, CA; Merced College, Merced, CA; Shasta College, Redding, CA; Cypress College, Cypress, CA; Hewlett Packard Corporate Head-quarters, Palo Alto, CA and the State of California Attorney General’s Building, Sacramento, CA.
Mr. Perry is the recipient of a full fellowship from the Vermont Studio Center and a Marin Arts Council Individual Artist’s Grant. His artwork has been featured in numerous publications, including New American Paintings, American Artist; Artweek and exhibition catalogs from The Riverside Art Museum, the United States Embassy, Reykjavic, Iceland, the Art Museum of Los Gatos and the Museum of Art, Kochi, Japan. Hundreds of his paintings are in private, public and corporate collections across the United States, including over 30 commissioned works for private and corporate clients.
