Raoul Middleman

Raoul Middleman’s “landscapes are like cantatas composed of painterly fugues of light and shadow, line and color. He thinks his newer landscapes are deeper, denser, darker, weightier, more moody, more urgent.” Middleman says, “I think each time of your life you get some thing that’s unique and special for that time. I’ve always had the idea that I’m going to make slow increments and deepen what I have.” “Middleman has the sensibility of those theatrical explorers of contemporary life.”
