Jan Baltzell teaches at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. She received her B.F.A. from Philadelphia College of Art, and M.F.A. from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. She has exhibited nationally, received fellowships from the Vermont Studio Center and Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and has been an instructor or visiting professor at the Art Institute of Philadelphia, Towson State University, and Drexel University, among others. Jan’s painterly abstractions display a master’s control of contrasting mark making that transcends the viewer’s conventional vocabulary. Her work is included in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C.
