“I have grown into the tendency to paint as transparently as possible – and, I start with a broom, but end up with a needle. I began my art career as an illustrator, so I also like to focus in on strong compositional subjects. I work on site, because photos tend to distort. I am drawn to single images, but all parts of the paintings are equally important. I love what I do and I hope it shows.”
Del-Bourree Bach is a signature member of the American Society of Marine Artists, Society of Animal Artists, National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, National Society of Painters in Casein and Acrylic, American Artists Professional League (Fellow), Audubon Artists, Artists Fellowship, the Salmagundi Club of New York, Providence Art Club and many other professional arts organizations. He has served on the Board of Directors of Hudson Valley Art Association and the Salmagundi Club, where he is also a past chairman of the Art Committee. He is currently on the Board of the Mystic Arts Center and on the Art Committees of the Salmagundi and Providence Art Clubs.
Del’s works are included in private, corporate and museum collections in the U.S. and abroad, including the Albrecht Kemper Museum in Missouri and the Florence Griswold Museum in Connecticut, as well as the U.S. Embassy and the Coast Guard Art Collections. His paintings have received over 150 awards in worldwide competition.
In 2006 Del was the first recipient of Robert Sanstrom Prize and newly minted Gold Medal at the 53rd Annual Open Exhibition of the National Society of Painters in Casein and Acrylic. Other awards include Best of Shows in the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Best of America in 2003 and Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts 96th National Exhibition in 2007, the George Gray Award from the United States Coast Guard in 2003 and the Region II Award in the National Parks Foundation’s Arts for the Parks in 2003. Most recently his work has been awarded the Elliot Liskin Memorial Award at the 100th Annual Thumb Box (Miniatures) Exhibition at the Salmagundi Club and the Honorable John M. Angellini Award at the Audubon Artists 66th Annual in New York.
His work was included in the Arts for the Parks Top 100 and Mini 100 from 2000-2006 and has been in the Annual International Marine Art Exhibition at Mystic Seaport since 1998. Current exhibits include the 2007 and 2008 PaintAmerica Top 100 and Mini 50, 2007 and 2008 Paint the Parks Top 100 and Mini 50, the 30th Anniversary National Exhibition and the New England Regional Exhibition of the American Society of Marine Artists, all of which are touring various museums around the United States in 2008-2009. Upcoming exhibitions include American Masters at the Salmagundi Club and Modern Marine Masters at Mystic Seaport.
Del and his paintings have been featured in a number of art publications including American Artist (2002), The Artists Magazine (2002), Watercolor Magic (2005), International Artist (2003) and American Art Collector (2006 & 2008). He has been an eight time finalist in The Artists Magazine competition, was included in their 2006 calendar and was July, 2007 “Artist of the Month” on their website.
